The junior ESOL kids have been investigating worms

Rumi, Benjamin and Noa are telling us exciting stories.

This is the beginning of a story that the students had to finish:

Belinda stepped out of her house into the cool autumn garden. It was late in the afternoon and Belinda enjoyed looking at the beautiful, golden and red leaves of the trees. “What a day!” she thought, “ I need some peace and quiet to relax after my day at work.”

Belinda started to rake up some leaves that the wind had blown onto the lawn. While she was working, the sun slowly disappeared behind dark clouds. When Belinda looked up from her work the pretty garden all of a sudden looked cold and abandoned. The former peaceful silence felt eerie now and Belinda shivered in the cold breeze.

“Time to go inside!” she thought and turned around towards the house, when a blood chilling, spooky, howling sound made her stop in her tracks. It came from the far end of her garden where tall old trees were growing.

One night when Mo went outside, he heard a big howling sound and it was a ghost.

Mo was scared and really quiet. So Mo went and checked it out. He got a little bit closer and had a little look. But then he said, “If I went closer that ghost might kidnap me.” He also wondered what kind of ghost it might be. Mo saw that ghost had sharp teeth although it was really hard to see it between the trees.

And then all of a sudden the clouds parted and the light of the moon lit up the forest. Mo hid behind a big tree and spied on the terrible ghost. The ghost pretended to be as still as a rock. When a breeze picked up the ghost’s cloth, Mo saw his two big hairy feet poking out! Mo was so mad that he felt like he was about to break his house.

So Mo sneaked up on the ghost and ripped the cloth off him. It was a human!

As Belinda got closer, she saw it was a wolf. When she saw the wolf change into a wolf man, she was petrified. She thought, “ I need to be quiet, so the wolf doesn't know where I am!” Before the wolf changed  into the  wolf man the wolf looked like a cute dog and it was fluffy and cool. But the wolf man had pointed teeth, sharp claws and it was big.

She called the police while she was running but she thought “Oh no! I think I made a big mistake!” because the wolf man now knew where she was, listening to her talking on the phone.

The wolf man chased her. As she got close to her house the wolf man jumped and…

The Big Fright

“It's dinner time come on!” Belinda’s mom called. Belinda ran back home and ate.

At 12:00 pm when the clock rang midnight Belinda came out from her bedroom and walked out to check again if the sound was still there. It was still squeaking louder and louder.

When she finally got to the sound, the clouds extinguished the moon’s light. It felt like the moon didn't want to see what was happening.

Red eyes appeared in front of her. Belinda’s body was shaking and she was petrified inside. “ H-h-h-he-ll-ow the-re.” She whispered quietly. The monster didn't answer her. Then the clouds disappeared and the moon’s light was there again.

When Belinda could see again she saw a little cute creature. It was tubby, with a coiled tail and tiny wings. It had blue sparkling eyes, tiny ears and mini legs and all of it was pink.
